Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could introduce a connected ring to compete with Samsung by 2026, according to predictions from CCS Insight. This would expand Apple’s focus on health, which has become a core part of its product strategy.

The potential smart ring would mark Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s first new product since launching the Apple Vision Pro headset earlier this year.

Next Big Move of Apple: A Health-Focused Smart Ring to Cement Tim Cook’s Legacy and Rival Samsung’s Galaxy Ring

Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, highlighted Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s deep commitment to health under CEO Tim Cook. He suggested that health will be a key part of Cook’s legacy when he eventually steps down.

Wood noted that a smart ring would complement the company’s existing health-focused products, such as the Apple Watch and AirPods Pro, both equipped with sensors that monitor various health metrics. Smart rings, like smartwatches, track health data such as heart rate using embedded sensors.

While Oura pioneered the smart ring market, Samsung launched the Galaxy Ring this year, further pushing into the health tech space. The Galaxy Ring, priced at $399, is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to integrate users into its ecosystem of devices, much like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s approach with its suite of products.

A smart ring would add another layer to the company’s product ecosystem, reinforcing customer loyalty. However, selling rings comes with unique challenges due to varying finger sizes. Samsung offers different ring sizes and provides a sizing kit to ensure a proper fit before purchase.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s extensive retail network, known for its stylish stores, would give it an advantage in selling a smart ring.

Wood also emphasized that rings are not only tech products but also fashion items, and the company’s brand appeal could make a smart ring a desirable status symbol.

Apple is a brand that has a certain amount of kudos in terms of being a product that people are proud to have. And I think a beautifully designed ring from Apple could be one of those things that’s almost a sort of status symbol,”

Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s reputation for sleek design and its standing as a premium brand could make its ring a product people would be proud to own.
